Salt Marsh Eco-Tour

The Salt Marsh Eco-Tour offers a safe and fun way to explore the ecology of a very unique ecosystem that fills and empties with the tides twice every 24 hours.

This 90-minute tour includes the history of the 'breakwall' (a 1.5-mile rock jetty), a paddle through seagrasses, and a few stops at dunes to explore the plants and wildlife that thrive in the ebb and flow of the tides.

This immersive tour provides an opportunity for hands-on exploration while learning about the diverse array of organisms that call the salt marsh home.

P.S. the rock jetty and dunes prevent large fish, such as sharks, from entering the marsh.

FAQ’S

  • Although the marsh is protected by the rock jetty and dunes, the tides can vary in intensity.

For a smoother and more enjoyable experience, especially for children, individuals with limited mobility, or those less athletically inclined, we recommend using a double kayak.

Paddling with two people can make it easier and safer.

  • This tour does NOT meet at our bayside location. We meet at the West End Marsh.

Meet-up location will be sent in booking confirmation.

  • We conduct our marsh kayak tours unless weather conditions pose safety concerns. Unsafe conditions may include heavy rain, strong winds, or lightning. It's an adventure of sorts every time, but safety is our top priority.
